Goal Searching

Five year plans, to do lists, 101 in 1001. These are all the ways we put together our things want to get accomplished, whether it be for the day or for life. I ADORE making lists. I usually feel pretty productive once I make the list and it's great motivation to be productive and get shit done throughout the day. To do lists are easy, but life changing goal oriented lists? Well those take much more effort to accomplish.

I recently saw a friend tweet about creating a five year plan. This idea isn't new to me at all. Then I remembered coming across the 101 in 1001 on Mackenzie Horan's blog.  You basically create 101 major things you want to accomplish in 1001 days. I found this way more exciting than the idea of a five year plan. So I decided I'd try it out......problem is I haven't even started the list yet.

I can't be the only person out there that has trouble mapping out their specific goals. I know it doesn't seem like a hard task, but when I make a list of goals I want them to be things that are permanent and not just to fill in a list. I think I just really need to take time out of my 2 job & a partial social life schedule to think about what I want out of life.

But if all else fails and life doesn't turn out the way you want, you can always go find a life long partner that does have it together ;) #kiddingbutnotkiddingbutkidding

Bang Gang

The trend for a dramatic hair change this year is to get bangs. Ever since our dearest Michelle O' stepped on the 2013 scene with her new 'do, bangs begin popping up left and right. I am NOT saying we should all give thanks to Mich (pronounced meesh) for giving us an idea of what to do with our hair if we don't feel like dying it or chopping off all 10 inches. I for one was contemplating bangs for 2013, you know , new year, new 'do. Right after this thought the lovely Courtne Smith ( aka Queen Shmink) showed up on her blog in bangs, this was all before the new year rang in.
Now that it is way past the new year, I still find myself contemplating whether or not to join the 'Bang Gang'. This may just be my personal opinion, but getting bangs brings on a lot of responsibility other than their maintenance. I've had bangs, I want bangs, but bangs come with a personality that I just don't know if I'm 100% ready for. When I think bangs I think of a chic little red lipped, all black wearing goddess. I feel they give me a serious look, instead of the youthful one most aim for.

Here's my Bang Gang Inspi, and also my spirit animals.

Kourtney, Zooey, Lauren, Courtne & Nicole

Every time I come across a picture of them I instantly want to run to the bathroom and chop my own bangs, but decide not to because bangs take thought. Am I overreacting?

Ramblings...

One of my biggest flaws is how fast I get turned off by something. This has been more prevalent lately. You see, I do this thing where I'm absolutely obsessed with something, but the minute a bunch of people are also claiming to be obsessed with it I begin to dislike it. This doesn't just happen with things like clothes or my favorite music artists, it happens with things that can actually help me in life. Horrible right?

I just feel that everything in the world today is overly saturated. Everyone loves BEYONCE, everyone wants to start a blog, everyone wants to be an entrepreneur , I can go on and on. But you see where I'm coming from right? I just feel that as soon as I have some big idea or find something that I feel makes me me, I scroll down my insta and everyone else is me as well.

During my second semester of living out my dream I joined the Culture Club at my school. It was a book club where we got together to just hangout. It was really great and I met some great people! The book we read was Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger. In the first half of the book Franny says this one line that I just completely related to when I was reading it, and still do :

I know I shouldn't let the "everyone" factor impede my self growth, but it does get annoying. Anyways....

Angry B-word

I would tell you why I haven't posted in a long time, but that just isn't the point today. The point is, I've been angry lately, like the most angry bitch ever. Of course I don't bust all my anger out at once, that would only bring forth another world war, but you know what I do...hold it in. This used to be a task that I conquered with no problems, but it's slowly wearing me down. I think the crazier part is how I have been having the time of my life and so many great opportunities given to me lately, so I shouldn't be angry at all, but I am.

I've come to the conclusion that I am angry because I am a semi-perfectionist.
I want everything to be perfect, but I'll half ass my way to it.
But if I'm going to be perfect, I want everything and everyone around me to be perfect as well.
And life just doesn't work out that way.

I think what makes me most angry is the fact that I can't control a good portion of what is wrong in my life. And trust me I have already gotten a grip on the other situations and happenings.

So I guess you're wondering what I am going to do about all of my anger. Well, I am honestly working on it.

Hurricane Sassy

As everyone in the United States should be aware of right now, there's a massive hurricane about to blow the North East to pieces, that's putting it lightly. I for one, am scared like hell, mostly because my block is fully populated by tall, old trees. Since class and work is canceled, I was going to get some homework out the way, but that's not possible because my school shut systems down. So in order to keep my anxiety to the minimum I am currently busy being lazy.

  • Watching re-runs of my favorite shows and movies
  • wearing one of my favorite J.Crew items & thick comfy leggings (no longer available but this & this are just as fun! )
  • eating chocolate pretzels forever I DON'T CARE
  • And finally reading the September Issue because I honestly never finished and barely started the articles, just went through the pictures, guilty.
  • and wine, of course.
Once the power goes I have a back up plan of going through magazines, reading Starstruck by Lauren Conrad ( I also suggest the SINS series it's hilarious) . Stay safe y'all!

Mah B

Honestly y'all I've been busy as hell.......
It all started when my laptop like blew up basically ( & by blew up I mean stopped working) which meant I could not blog all the wonderful inspirational things that were coming to me. Then I started my new job! Which is like one of my favorite stores and where I'd actually love to work in my future career after I graduate. & Then along came midterms. I was pretty much dying.

After all  the stress, commuting, and mental insanity I finally got a life back :

My Life will never be the same. I have been unhealthily obsessed with Lauren Conrad since 2004's premiere of Laguna Beach (#teamLauren) . She guided my life through every episode of The Hills and has gotten every single one of my dollars from her shoes, books, magazine cover etc.  She recently started her Book Tour for her two new books Lauren Conrad : Beauty  & Starstruck : A Fame Game Novel, so naturally I made sure I made a cameo. Let me just say she is PERFECT. Bible, she didn't even blink when the paparazzi snapped photos of her all at once for what seemed like 10 minutes! Every facial expression she makes is perfect; you know how sometimes you make a face and it's just horrible, nope not Lauren. & She is so absolutely nice. She also commented on my monogrammed necklace, I DIED.

My most recent adventure was actually just yesterday morning/afternoon : The Walk For Breast Cancer. This event is held every year in Central Park and other places that I just don't feel like listing right now. My boyfriend, his twin & I went for the fun & it was really enjoyable ( not mention pink is my favorite color & it was everywhere) . It was a five mile walk which really killed me because I'm beyond out of shape and am really a 66 year old in a 21.5 year old's body. None the less, I felt very accomplished and inspired once it was over.

Did I mention I also worked Holiday Roll Out last night, which means I worked 10pm - 7am .....DYING

In With The Old : Thrifting Survival Guide

Thrifting.
I have been engaging in this shopping/sporting activity for a few years now, maybe since I was a junior or Senior in High School after my Aunt introduced me to this awesome one (well it was awesome) near my town. I instantly developed the hungry eagle eye for great finds. Some people find that it's not all it's cracked up to be, well they're doing it wrong. Thrifting takes patience and a good eye. You'd never believe all the good finds I have stumbled across like this recent find ....

Brand Spanking New Longchamp Darshan from the summer collection for only $3.75
#askthemhoes

That's not the first time I got lucky, I've found a Burberry bag for the same price, Ralph Lauren Blazers and more. If you've ever been thrifting before you may know what to do , but if you haven't then here's my tips:

  • Wear Leggings  :  sometimes the fitting rooms are sketchy and freak me out (#princessproblems)
  • wear a tank top under whatever else you may have on: for the same reason as leggings, but sometimes there are sweaters or jackets you can just toss right on in front of a mirror.
  • Location, Location, Location: if you're looking for labels you wouldn't necessarily want to go to anywhere in le hood , right?
  • grab a cart: if it's in your cart the nosy shoppers eyeing your style won't see what you have and won't try to pick it up once you put it down.
  • Know your Labels: Knowing your shit helps you come across lucky finds better. Some thrift stores don't know their shit and let me end up with it for $5
  • Know quality : is that item really worth the price once used?
  • Don't be afraid to go through each and every item slowly: or even more than once, that's when I tend to find all the goods.
  • Be ready for crowds: certain days may hold certain specials, and you are not the only one who knows.
  • Budget: if you are like me , you need to know that you can't have it all because you can get so much for so little, which in turn just leads to hoarding things you may never use.
Some great Thrift Stores to try are :
The Good Will
Unique
The Salvation Army Store
Buffaloe Exchange

One other thing, if you want to find and be sure of the labels you find, you might want to visit a Consignment Shop. They are similar to thrift store, but it's less of a donation box. The people bring their not wanted designer items there because they want money in exchange, so those items are in better condition and more reliable.
Some of My Favorite Consignment Shops are:
Second Time Around
Bella Boutique (Philadelphia)
& This other one in Soho On Prince Street that I don't know the name of , but It has me drooling every time!
